After completing an inpatient program, I was referred to the Wells House to continue my recovery. Before coming here, I wasn’t sure that I would be able to stop using drugs and alcohol and stay stopped. I have tried before with no success. I arrived here on October 7th, 2016 and with help from the Wells House I haven’t found a reason to go back to using. The Wells House afforded me the opportunity to take a look at my life. It has given me the knowledge and the skills to make better decisions and how to work on every area of my life one thing at a time. Recovery is a process. It takes work and it takes time. This place provides a comfortable environment to talk about and work on any issues that I have or have had in the past. The counselors here have been really helpful to me and my situation. I had to put a lot of effort in myself, but they really worked hard to help me with anything I needed. The counselors are extremely knowledgeable about addiction and the process of recovery. I was educated about all aspects of addiction and how it applied to my life while attending IOP (Intensive Outpatient) classes. IOP is really the core of the process of recovery here at the Wells House. That is where I developed peer support and a network of people to go to 12-step meetings with. The Wells House is a structured program that offers a lot of support in different areas. They taught me to take it one day at a time. Going through the program has helped me build up my self-confidence and self-esteem. My relationship with my family is getting better all the time. My attitude has gone from being completely negative to thinking positive. The Wells House has taught me to make goals and how to complete the steps to accomplish those goals. I want to thank the Wells House for my experience here so far and to all the people that have helped me along the way.
