
During the intake appointment, if a patient has an opioid or alcohol use disorder and requires medication-assisted treatment (MAT), specifically Buprenorphine or Vivitrol, the counselor will refer the patient to our Telemedicine services. Our Telemedicine program is offered in collaboration with psychiatrists at the University of Maryland Medical Center, Department of Psychiatry.
Patient Guidelines and Requirements:
- Patients may bring no more than two weeks’ worth of clothing due to space limitations.
- Weapons, including knives, are not permitted.
- The only electronic devices allowed are cell phones, tablets, or MP3 players.
- To play music on any device, patients must use headphones or earbuds.
- Whenever possible, personal hygiene products should be alcohol-free.
- Bedding is provided; however, patients may bring their own bedding if preferred.
- Patients being admitted to a 3.1 level of care may not bring food or snacks; these items are provided by Wells House.
- Patients being admitted to a 2.1 level of care will be provided with food for 14 days and will be provided assistance with applying for SNAP benefits.
- Laundry expenses are covered for the first two weeks of residence. After that, patients are responsible for their own laundry expenses.
- Proof of U.S. citizenship is required for all admissions due to updated Medicaid requirements. Acceptable documents include:
- U.S. Passport or Passport Card
- Certificate of Naturalization or Certificate of Citizenship
- State-issued Real ID or Driver’s License (with lawful status)
- Birth Certificate (U.S. state or county issued)
- Social Security Card
- If a patient does not have proof of citizenship:
- An appointment must be scheduled at the Social Security Office in Frederick or Washington County before the admission date.
- Proof of U.S. citizenship must be provided to Wells House within 45 days after the Social Security appointment.
- Patients with court dates while in residence must secure their own transportation to and from the appointment.
- Patients with vehicles must provide proof of a valid driver’s license, vehicle registration, and current tags. Wells House is not responsible for damages or losses to personal property, including vehicles.
